Overview

This policy explains what information artisanplaybook.dev ("we", "us", "the site") collects when you visit, join the newsletter or waitlist, or buy an ebook, and how that information is used.

Information we collect

Information you give us

• Your email address, if you subscribe to the newsletter or join an ebook waitlist.
• What you write to us, if you email us for support.

Information collected when you buy an ebook

Purchases are handled by Gumroad (see "Payments and Gumroad" below). After a purchase, Gumroad shares limited order details with us: your email address, your name if you provided it, your country, the product bought, the amount paid, the order ID, and whether the order was later refunded. We never receive or store your card or PayPal details.

Information collected automatically

• Standard server logs: IP address, browser type, the pages requested, and the time of each request.
• Analytics data through Google Analytics: pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site.

How we use your information

We use this information to:

• send newsletter and waitlist emails you signed up for (every email includes an unsubscribe link);
• keep a record of ebook orders for accounting, tax and support;
• answer support requests;
• keep the site secure and prevent abuse;
• understand how the site is used, so we can improve it.

We do not sell your personal information.

Payments and Gumroad

Ebooks are sold through Gumroad, which acts as the merchant of record. That means Gumroad is the seller on your receipt and handles payment, sales tax and VAT, invoicing, refunds and delivery of your files.

When you buy, you enter your details directly on Gumroad's checkout. Gumroad processes that information as an independent controller under its own privacy policy. Its payment partners may also process your payment details.

Cookies and browser storage

• Essential cookies: the site sets session and security cookies (including CSRF protection) needed for it to work.
• Analytics cookies: Google Analytics sets cookies to measure site usage. You can block them in your browser or with an extension, and the site will still work.
• Preferences: your light/dark theme choice is stored in your browser only.
• Checkout: when you open the Gumroad checkout, Gumroad may set its own cookies, which are covered by its privacy policy.

Third-party services

• Gumroad: checkout, payment, tax, file delivery and receipts.
• Google Analytics: site usage analytics.

International transfers

These services may process data outside your country, including in the United States and India. Where the law requires it, they use appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

Data retention

• Order records: kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
• Newsletter and waitlist emails: kept until you unsubscribe, or until the ebook launches in the case of a waitlist.
• Support emails: kept for as long as needed to resolve your request.
• Server logs: kept for a short period, then deleted.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to certain uses of it, or to withdraw consent. To make a request, email hello@artisanplaybook.dev. For data Gumroad holds, you can also contact Gumroad directly.

Children

The site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
